I had some great and peaceful moments at Hoshino Resorts Kai Hakone, but it wasn't without its downsides. The onsen experience was divine, and I loved the natural sounds of the river nearby, but getting around was tough. Dining options felt limited, especially with a child. Overall, while my sleep was amazing, the logistical issues left me a bit frustrated.
The room I stayed in was surprisingly spacious, featuring a tatami sitting area and a lovely balcony overlooking the river. I was able to enjoy the soothing sounds of nature right from my room.
The staff were friendly, but the check-in process felt overly complicated. It took forever, and it was a bit frustrating waiting for help with our bags when I just wanted to settle in after traveling.
While the hotel is next to the river and really beautiful, it is a bit far from the main attractions. I had to rely on taxis and buses, which were not always available when I needed them.
The kaiseki dinner was good, but there should be more varied options for breakfast, especially for kids. My daughter had nothing to eat there, and that was a miss for us.
The onsen was absolutely one of the highlights of my stay, but I noticed some communal areas needed updates. The lifts and some facilities felt a bit neglected.

My stay at Hoshino Resorts Kai Hakone had its highs and lows. The beautiful views and serene atmosphere were a true highlight. However, the location was quite remote, making transportation a hassle, especially for a family with a toddler.
The room was spacious and exceeded my expectations, providing a comfortable and relaxing environment. The bedding was especially comfortable, which contributed to my restful sleep.
The staff were friendly but the check-in process was lengthy and a bit overwhelming. I felt like we were rushed to set dining times, and this made the transition into our stay less smooth.
The hotel's location next to the river was lovely, giving a therapeutic atmosphere. However, it was quite challenging to navigate transportation options. With no taxis available when needed, it became frustrating.
I enjoyed the traditional meals, but I wish they offered some basic Western options. My daughter found the food unpalatable, which was disappointing.
The onsen was beautiful and provided a great experience. However, some communal areas felt neglected and could benefit from updates.

My stay at Hoshino Resorts Kai Hakone was nothing short of magical. The serene riverside atmosphere and the soothing sounds of the water cradled me in relaxation. I particularly enjoyed the really good kaiseki cuisine. However, if you're looking to be in the thick of sightseeing, its more remote location might not be ideal for you.
My room was spacious and elegantly designed in a traditional Japanese style, featuring a comfortable bed and a lovely tatami sitting area. I even had a small balcony overlooking the river.
The staff was attentive and helped create a peaceful environment. The lack of room service was noted, but it didn't detract significantly from my stay.
Situated next to the river, the location was therapeutic, allowing me to unwind fully. Access to public transportation was convenient, despite its distance from the town center.
The kaiseki meals were a highlight. Each dish was beautifully presented and flavorful, showcasing local ingredients, which I truly appreciated.
The onsen was a highlight of my experience. It offered picturesque views and an incredibly peaceful atmosphere, making it easy to relax.

I had a mixed experience at Hoshino Resorts Kai Hakone. The setting is stunning and the onsen is a major highlight, but the location is quite isolated and getting around was a challenge. While the rooms are spacious and comfortable, the dining options could be better catered to families.
My room was much larger than I expected and very peaceful. The bed was incredibly comfortable, allowing me to enjoy some of the best sleep I've had in years.
The staff were friendly but the check-in process was overly lengthy and involved. I felt overwhelmed by the number of details I had to go through before getting to my room.
The location is beautiful and next to a river, but it's very far outside of Hakone. I struggled with transportation options and found it difficult to get around.
While the kaiseki dinner was delicious, the breakfast options were not child-friendly, and it would have been nice to have a few western choices available.
The onsen was a highlight for me, offering a very peaceful and beautiful experience. However, some communal areas need updating as they felt overlooked.

My stay at Hoshino Resorts Kai Hakone was a blend of lovely scenery and serene relaxation, complemented by quality amenities. The onsen experience was truly wonderful, offering a much-needed respite. However, the dining options were somewhat limiting, especially for Western tastes, and the remote location posed challenges for transportation. Overall, it was a unique experience I'm glad I had! 🌄🛁
My room was spacious and comfortable, providing a peaceful retreat.
While the staff were friendly, the lengthy check-in process felt overwhelming at times.
The hotel is beautifully situated next to a river, but the distance from central Hakone made transportation difficult.
The traditional Japanese meals were beautifully presented, though options for Western breakfast could be improved.
The onsen facilities were excellent and well-maintained, adding a luxurious touch to my stay.
